Portland Gateview Elementary

Another area that PGE is working to strengthen is, its relationships with our students with special needs.   In the 18-19 school year our CDC classroom is piloting a program call PB&J.  (Peer Buddies & Johnson’s Classroom).  This program developed by Latonya Johnson allows 4th and 5th grade students to go in and visit the CDC classroom to develop peer relationships with CDC students.  Each day of the school week responsible students volunteer to go and visit during recess.  As this program grows it will expand to the second CDC classroom.

Success of the PB&J Program has been measured by the smiles of the CDC students and the desire of the 4th and 5th grade students to continue to come.
